We were thrilled to welcome Fin Dwyer, host of the brilliant Irish History podcast, to our exhibition Fear & Fever: Living and dying with typhoid in Dublin at Royal College of Physicians of Ireland last month – and the podcast has just dropped!
Fin and exhibition curator Carly discussed the context of Dublin’s struggle with typhoid at the turn of the twentieth century, taking listeners into the city’s tenements, through its Victorian sewage system and out to Dublin Bay to explain why terrible living conditions and shellfish were especially problematic drivers of the dreaded disease.
