Make your own comic workshops at Dublin Festival of History

The fantastic Clare Foley, illustrator of Typhoidland’s graphic novel Fear & Fever: 14 days of typhoid in Edwardian Dublin, ran two brilliant ‘create your own historical comic’ workshops for teens and adults on Saturday 12th October as part of Dublin Festival of History 2024. The photograph above shows the brilliant and creative creations produced by some of the very talented attendees!

The workshops were held at Pearse Street Library, home of our heritage partners Dublin City Library & Archive. In addition to being guided through a series of hands on exercises by Clare, who also shared her experiences of illustrating historical subjects, the attendees got the chance to see some of the original primary source material we of Typhoidland have been researching during our Dublin project.

A huge thanks to Clare for leading such an inspiring day, to the brilliant Dublin City Library & Archive team for hosting us and showing us some of their amazing collection, and of course to everyone who came along with bags of enthusiasm, inquisitiveness and creativity! It was a wonderful way to round off our public events programme in Dublin.
