It’s nearly Heritage Week 2024

We’re busy preparing for a full week of FREE events and activities at No 6 Kildare Street, the historic home of our fantastic heritage partners Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Come along during Heritage Week (Monday 19th – Friday 23rd August) to dive into all things ‘Dear Dirty Dublin’:

Explore our exhibition Fear & Fever: Living and dying with typhoid in Edwardian Dublin

Watch our new animation Alive, Alive Oh to learn how the history of typhoid relates to Dublin’s unofficial anthem

Settle down in the reading corner and immerse yourself in the often tragic realities of outbreak control with our graphic novel Fear & Fever: 14 days of typhoid in Edwardian Dublin

Marvel at the bacterium S. Typhi’s odyssey into – and back out of – the human gut in microbiologist and science illustrator Eliza Wolfson‘s brilliant steampunk visualisation Typhi’s Journey

And there’s more!

Watch a short film featuring three of Ireland’s leading public health experts discussing the major health threats facing Dubliners today

See a demo of our digital portal, in which users can navigate around the city to explore a wealth of additional stories about the impact of typhoid on Dublin, its institutions and famous and ordinary Dubliners.

Special Heritage Week events:

Our make your own historical comic workshops for 12-16 year olds with the wonderful Clare Foley, typhoid graphic novel illustrator, are all booked up, but all are welcome to attend an illustrated talk by Fear & Fever curator and Typhoidland’s Carly Collier (Tuesday 20th August, at 10am and 2pm – book a space here).
